Point of Care Decision Support Announces Certified Solution through the Allscripts Developer Program
Company’s Anticoagulation (AC) evidence-based software integrates with TouchWorks® EHR providing
real-time data that measures and improves the quality of healthcare

St. Paul, MN. (October 16, 2014) Point of Care Decision Support, a healthcare software application company that transforms evidence-based guidelines into intelligent tools for patient point of care, has joined the Allscripts Developer Program and is now offering its integrated Point of Care Anticoagulation application for Allscripts clients using the TouchWorks EHR. Point of Care Anticoagulation (AC) is the only Anticoagulation management application currently certified by Allscripts through the Developer Program and the only application to support the complete life cycle of AC management. Built-in clinical decision rules track patients throughout all phases of care including drug-drug interactions, heparin bridging and switch therapy, conversion from Warfarin to TSOACs (or TSOACs back to Warfarin) and manages quality assurance and adverse chronological event reporting.

“As a leading EHR provider, Allscripts provides a popular, robust and dynamic platform to integrate Point of Care AC – a complete anticoagulation decision support system that improves patient safety, drives patient engagement, meets current and future meaningful use requirements, and delivers real-time outcomes reporting that yields strong return-on-investment”, said Tim Michalski, President of Point of Care Decision Support. “We look forward to our partnership as the anticoagulation application is the first of many more chronic disease decision support software offerings planned for integration with Allscripts. Our customers will benefit as we continue to develop innovative evidence-based solutions for healthcare providers”.

“Point of Care’s Anticoagulation (AC) application is yet another example of the speed of innovation to implementation for our clients,” said Stanley Crane, Chief Innovation Officer and General Manager, Open Business Unit, Allscripts. “Point of Care’s Decision Support Platform provides an evidence-based support tool for clinicians, enabling them to accomplish their very specialized patient care tasks while leveraging our EHR platform to efficiently care for their patients.”
